KUCHING: The Election Commission (EC) has sold a total of 100 nominations forms in Sarawak as of today (Nov 4) for the 15th general election (GE15).

The nomination of candidates is scheduled today (Nov 5) statewide with the submission of nomination papers from 9 am until 10 am.

Meanwhile, based on EC’s data as of October 9, 2022, the total number of voters recorded is 1,943,074.

Based on the data, the age group of 21 to 29 has the highest number of voters with 415,645 recorded followed by 410,146 voters aged 30 to 39 and 331,673 voters aged 40 to 49.

The list is followed by 295,733 voters in the 50-59 age group, 214,298 in the 60-69 age group, 129,034 in the 18-20 age group, 102,504 in the 70-79 age group, 33,138 in the 80-89 group and 10,903 in the 90 and above age group.

The data also recorded there are 975,618 male voters (50.21 per cent) and 967,456 female voters (49.79 per cent).

Recently, caretaker Minister in Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, in a statement, said that there was a 59.14 per cent increase of voters for the state compared with the GE14 electoral roll.

“A total of 38,148 officers will be on duty at 1,943 polling stations, which include 55 early-voting stations with 4,286 polling streams,” Wan Junaidi said.
