SIBU: Social activist Hii Tiong Huat wants Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng to apologise for implying that Sarawak under GPS will go bankrupt in three years’ time.
According to Hii, the statement made by Lim had downplayed the good works of the GPS government in administering the state.
“Lim must apologise to the people of Sarawak as he has insulted the intelligence of the government which has been doing its best to bring development to the state,” he added.
Hii said in asking the people to support PH at the next state election just because he felt that the GPS government would make the state bankrupt, Lim was indirectly putting a bad light on the health of the nation’s economy.
“The victim will be the people should they follow his advice. His statement if not corrected will hurt the nation’s economy as it will put a dent on foreign investment to the state and country,” he said.
Hii added that as long as the GPS government could manage the state’s rich natural resources well, there was no reason that Sarawak would go bankrupt.
“Sarawak has a strong reserve. Its total land area is 95% the size of the 11 states in West Malaysia. Do you think that the state with vast land will go bankrupt?” he asked.
