Prihatin recipients monitored at BSN branches

KUCHING: Police yesterday closely monitored people who went to collect their Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) at Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN).

District police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani said that he had ordered his constables to ensure that the public obey the social distancing rule.

“The public will be reminded to distance themselves by at least a metre from one another. Anyone who continues to be stubborn, will be dealt with,” he said, adding that the situation in the city is under control.

At BSN Mile 7 a Rela member checks that social distancing is being practised.

Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said his personnel also monitored the situation from morning until afternoon.

“We advised people to keep the specified distance when queuing up,” he said when contacted yesterday.

When showed several photos of people overcrowding at BSN (believed to be at the Mile 4 and Mile 7 branches), Aidil pointed out that they appeared to be fake. He clarified that policemen were at the banks controlling the crowd.

Aidil said this photo of people overcrowding at a BSN branch was fake because police were present at the bank.

In Serian the district police chief DSP Aswandy Anis said everything was under control at the local BSN branch.

“My men were there controlling those who queued up. So far, everything’s okay in Serian,” he said.
