JULAU: Julau Life Care Society collected 36 bags of blood in a blood donation campaign held at Market MDMJ, on Saturday (Feb 4).
According to its chairman, Ngieng Sii Ping, the blood drive started as early as 9am and ended at 12.20pm.
He explained that donating blood does not just saves lives, but also provides other benefits to the donor from a health viewpoint.
“Do not be afraid of donating blood because you may save another person’s life,” he said.
Present at the campaign was Dr.Christopher Wong Ha Kai from Sarikei Hospital.
Most of the donors who came were excited to donate blood for the first time.
The youngest donor, Bonny Kilat, 23, said it was his first time donating blood.
“It did not hurt, it was an exciting moment for me to donate blood,” he said.
Fabian Juna who has donated blood 58 times said it is a noble humanitarian act.
The Julau Life Care Society will hold another blood donation drive in June.
