KUCHING: The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) is prepared and ready to ensure the safety of the people during the coming 14th General Election (GE14).
According to Commander of the Eastern Field Command Lieutenant General Datuk Wira Mohd Zaki Mokhtar, at the moment, ATM is in the final stage of finalising its voters’ data for the early and postal election.
“After that, ATM personnel will be deployed to help maintain the peace and harmonious environment during polling day.
“We will focus on the safety of the public during polling day together with other enforcement agencies such as Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA),” Zaki said this to reporters after attending a blood donation drive held at Bukave Hall, Penrissen Camp near here, yesterday.
Earlier, Zaki said more than 275 officers and staff from Penrissen Camp donated their blood to fulfil the 150 pints of blood needed by Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
He added that the blood donation drive was held in conjunction with the 4th anniversary of the establishment of ATM Eastern Field Command.
“I am glad to see the encouraging response from our staff and officers which is beyond our expectation. We are targeting 150 pints of blood today, which is not a problem for us because at the moment SGH is in need of blood, and it needs about 70 pints of blood daily.” he said.
Zaki also pointed out that ATM will always extend a helping hand to anyone in need especially government department and agencies.
“Apart from this blood donation drive, from time to time, we will try to assist government department and agencies such as SGH when the needs arise,” he said.
