SERIKIN : Soldiers from the 13th Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) last Sunday night foiled an attempt by an unknown man to smuggle a Perodua Myvi, worth about RM30,000, across the border to Kalimantan.

According to a spokesman of the First Infantry Division, last Sunday, while mounting a road block at about 11.15pm at  a “rat trail” (jalan tikus) about 200 metres from the Sarawak-Kalbar border during  “Operation Serkap”, the soldiers saw a silver coloured car heading towards them  from Bau.

On seeing the soldiers, the driver panicked  and sped off.  Chased by the soldiers, he  steered the car towards a muddy patch.  When the car became stuck in the mud, he got out of it and fled the scene on foot.

Bau police were informed and the seized car bearing plate number QAV 6158  was sent to the Bau police
station after that. Upon checking, it was discovered that the car was reported
stolen on the same day in Samarahan.
