LUNDU: A team comprising six soldiers from the 11th Battalion Royal Malay Regiment (11RAMD) conducted ‘Ops SERKAP’ at Syarikat Pelita Oil Palm Plantation here, recently. The operation focused on illegal routes at the Malaysia-Indonesia border.
During the operation the team noticed four motorcycles and a 4WD vehicle passing by using an illegal route to Indonesia.

However, when the motorcyclists and driver of the 4WD vehicle sensed that they were being watched, they made a U-turn and dispersed using different routes. The soldiers then chased after the four motorcycles but failed.
One the 4WD vehicle (Mitsubishi Pajero) was left behind after the driver and two passengers ran helter-skelter into the jungle.
It is believed that the group was attempting to smuggle the three motorcycles and 4WD vehicle to Indonesia using the illegal route.
The 4WD vehicle was later taken to Lundu Police Station at noon the same day for further action.
The seized vehicle is worth about RM35,000.
