TEBEDU: A joint army patrol intercepted an attempt to smuggle groceries across the Malaysia-Indonesia border, seizing beef and sausages worth over RM8,000.
The First Infantry Division said the incident happened at an illegal route about 100 metres from the border in the Tebedu GABMA Post sector.
“Around 1 pm yesterday (Aug 19), a team of Malaysian and Indonesian soldiers discovered several black packages abandoned under a tree along the illegal route.
“Further inspection revealed six boxes of Allana beef and 1,600 packets of Chicken Frankfurter sausages, with an estimated value of RM8,968.
“No prohibited or dangerous items were found in the vicinity,” the division said.
A police report was filed at the Tebedu police station, and the seized items were handed over to the Tebedu Customs station for further action.
The army reaffirmed its commitment to tighten border control and safeguard the state’s sovereignty from illegal entries and cross-border crimes.
