KUCHING: Police arrested a local man on Sunday (Nov 24), for allegedly breaking into and stealing items worth RM14,000 from an office in Tabuan Jaya earlier that day.

Kuching deputy police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said the 46-year-old suspect was picked up by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in front of a shophouse at Taman BDC, Jalan Stampin.

He added that various items were seized from the suspect – two Asus laptops with chargers, three CCTVs, a graphics card, a Huawei phone, a sling bag and a backpack.

In addition, a Perodua Myvi and burglary tools such as a modified T-shaped iron, roller shutter keys, a screwdriver, pliers, a folding ladder, a remote key, and two toolboxes containing tools – believed to be used in the crime – were also seized from him.

“Further checks revealed that the Myvi was reported stolen from Taman Satria on Nov 9. Investigations also linked the suspect to three other premises burglary cases.

“Background checks showed that the suspect, who tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, had six prior records related drugs and property crimes,” he said.
