KUCHING: Over 10,000 technology geeks from 80 countries will converge here for the 27th World Congress on Innovation and Technology, 6th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (WCIT IDECS 2023).
The three-day congress from Oct 4 – 6 will be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
An inaugural She-Tech Asia Forum was held today (Oct 3) in conjunction with the congress.
Themed ‘Empowering Women in Techology’ and organised by the Sarawak government, it is aimed at empowering women in this region and enabling 30 per cent of women to be actively involved in the technology industry by 2030.
The forum was attended by professionals in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as well as digital fields, corporate executives focusing on diversity, equity and inclusivity, and supporters of women’s empowerment.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will declare open the world congress tomorrow (Oct 4).
WCIT 2023 is themed ‘Fulfilling the Promise of the Digital Age: Innovation and Technology Driving Economic Prosperity, Social Inclusivity and Environmental Sustainability,’ while IDECS 2023 is themed ‘Advancing Digital Economy for Sustainable Development’.
This prestigious event is a massive gathering of experts and entrepreneurs in the technology industry and provides opportunities to explore the forefront of trends, technologies and leading business models shaping the future of innovation and sustainable growth.
For the record, the first edition of IDECS was held in April 2017.
The WCIT|IDECS2023 collective exhibition showcases several world-class and intriguing innovations, including artificial intelligence (AI), smart cities, robotics, autonomy, financial technology (fintech), food technology (foodtech), and space technology (spacetech), aimed at driving economic prosperity, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
