KUCHING: Some four million children aged between five and 12 would receive the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
The federal Health Minister was speaking to the media at the launch of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids) at Tunku Azizah Hospital in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (Feb 3).
0.2ml — one-third of the dose for adults — will be administered to the left or right arm, or the anterolateral thigh.
Children are required to complete two doses, with an interval of eight weeks.
The shot is voluntary and parents or guardians must give written permission. The vaccine is given free to all children living in Malaysia regardless of nationality.
The appointment dates will be made known on MySejahtera. Those living in the Klang Valley will receive a link to make an appointment starting Feb 1.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Health (MoH) I Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, MoH secretary-general Datuk Sri Mohd Shafiq Abdullah, deputy director-general (public health) Datuk Dr Chong Chee Kheong, Kuala Lumpur Hospital director Datin Paduka Dr Rohana Johan, deputy director-general (research and technical support) Datuk Dr Hishamshah Mohd Ibrahim, medical development director Datuk Dr Mohd Fikri Ujang and senior officials from ministries and departments.
