Miri police arrest a 28-year-old man who has allegedly caused property damages and threatened his mother after her refusal to give him cash.

MIRI: Police here arrested a man who had allegedly caused damages to household items and threatened to hit his mother after she refused his request for money today.

It was reported that the incident happened around 10.30am in a house at Kampung Usaha Jaya, Mile 8, Lambir.

Prior to the incident, the 28-year-old man requested some cash from his mother but his request was denied.

Following that, the suspect went amok and damaged his father’s motorcycle as well as several items in the house.

It is also believed that the suspect threatened to hit his mother in the head due to her refusal to comply with his cash request.

Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the case after receiving the police report which was lodged by the suspect’s father.

The suspect was later arrested around 12.30pm by a police team.

He is currently placed in the police station lock-up for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing damages through act of mischief.
