JULAU: A secondary school student died on the spot while his father was seriously injured after their motorcycle skidded and crashed into a road divider along KM502, Jalan KJD here yesterday (May 7).
Julau police chief DSP Andam Sulin Brayun said the accident was believed to have occurred around 1.40 pm.
The motorcycle ridden by the victim had apparently skidded to the left before crashing into a road divider.
“As a result, the victim (pillion rider) identified as Alexsen Banyan, 13, died at the scene of the accident. He was pronounced dead by paramedics.
“Whereas, his 35-year-old father sustained severe injuries to his right hand and leg,” he said.
Andam added that the injured victim was taken to Sarikei Hospital for further treatment and the victim’s body was brought to the mortuary for a post mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
