KUCHING: A man was sentenced to seven months imprisonment by the Magistrates’ Court here on Wednesday (Feb 9) for threatening to kill his father.

Luwis Setar, 37, pleaded guilty to the charge, which was read out by an interpreter before magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.

He was charged with making death threats against his father Setar Naggar, 73, at their residence in Lorong 2, Sungai Apong Baru, around 11.15pm, Nov 25, 2021.

The accused was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine or both, if convicted.

According to the facts of the case, Luwis went on a rampage and acted aggressively and issued death threats.

His father and other family members were frightened by his actions and lodged a police report, which led to the arrest a day after the incident.
