SIBU: A 36-year-old man (Sept 13) was fined RM5,000, or one year’s imprisonment in default, for damaging his father’s property at Rumah Henry Sungai Passin in Sibu Jaya.
Bester Collin pleaded guilty to the charge of mischief under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
The court heard that on Sept 6, Bester went on a rampage at his father’s home, smashing a Philips brand television and television decoder, causing RM500 in damages.
Prosecuting officer ASP Siti Mariyah Dahari said that the accused had been arrested at the longhouse after police received a report of the incident.
Bester, who was not represented by a lawyer, opted for the default sentence as he was unable to pay the fine.
