KUCHING: A monitoring system to track the airing of ethnic songs may be music to the ears of local artistes.
The idea was suggested by Music Right Sarawak Berhad (MRSB) and Persatuan Armada Anak Seni Sarawak (ARAS) during a meeting with the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) recently.
MRSB Managing Director Juliet Tan and ARAS Chairman Gibson Richard expressed their intention to collaborate with SDEC in developing a monitoring system suitable for use in Sarawak, especially for local ethnic Sarawak songs.
“As a recognised licensing body in Sarawak, MRSB requires a monitoring system to track the broadcasting of its members’ songs played either in the form of broadcasts on radio and television media channels or on business premises that play music to its customers.
“MRSB has full faith in the expertise of Sarawak’s local children and SDEC’s ability to help develop a locally driven and competitive monitoring system for a wider level,” it said in a statement yesterday (June 12).
“MRSB and SDEC will continue in more detailed discussions until a mutual agreement is reached to work together to help Sarawak’s local artistes led by MRSB,” it added.
