MIRI: Sarawak Oil Palms (SOP) celebrated the joyous occasion of Gawai-Raya with a grand event at Gua Longhouse Chalet, here on Friday.
Approximately 200 SOP employees and their families gathered in a festive atmosphere filled with cultural performances, entertainment, and camaraderie.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Selvarajah Lurdusamy, plantation controller, accompanied by senior managers from various regions.
The event showcased the company’s commitment to fostering unity and inclusivity among its workforce, regardless of cultural background.
Guests enjoyed a vibrant array of performances, including traditional dances by
1BeatStudio, cultural dances, and musical acts.
A variety of mouth-watering dishes and delicacies were served, representing the diverse cuisines of Sarawak and the cultural significance of Gawai and Raya. The lively atmosphere was further enhanced by a lucky draw session and a ‘duit Raya’ session for children, adding an element of excitement and anticipation to the festivities.

Your presence here is a testament to the strength of our SOP family and the bond that unites us beyond the confines of our workplace,” said senior public relations manager, Agnes Nyelang.
The Gawai-Raya celebration at SOP serves as a reminder of the importance of cultural diversity and unity in the workplace.
