MIRI: Sarawak Oil Palms (SOP) celebrated the joyous occasion of Chinese New Year yesterday (Feb 23) with a grand gathering hosted at the residence of Tan Sri Datuk Ling Chiong Ho, advisor of SOP Group.

Approximately 300 employees and their families gathered for the event, which featured a festive atmosphere filled with cultural performances, entertainment, and camaraderie.

The highlight of the celebration was Ling’s presence, who welcomed and joined in the festivities with SOP employees.

Also present was SOP group chief executive officer (CEO) Paul Wong Hee Kwong.

Guests were treated to a vibrant array of performances, including traditional lion dances, cultural dances, and musical performances.

The lively atmosphere was further enhanced by a lucky draw session, angpao session for kids, adding an element of excitement and anticipation to the festivities.

“We are delighted to come together as a company to celebrate Chinese New Year and usher in the Year of the Dragon,” said Wong.

“This celebration is a testament to SOP’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture, where employees from all backgrounds can come together to celebrate our shared traditions and values,” he added.

He said the Chinese New Year celebration at SOP also serves as a reminder of the importance of cultural diversity and unity in the workplace.
