KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday received a courtesy call by a delegation from Dongjin Semichem of South Korea at his office in the DUN building.

The delegation, comprised of the company’s top officials, was led by Boo-Sup Lee, chairman and CEO of the company.

The company, a confirmed investor in Sarawak, is a well-known manufacturer of materials for flat panel display and semi-conductors, materials for alternative energy sources and foaming agents.

Earlier, the Chief Minister received a similar call by key officials of OCIM Sdn Bhd, a South Korean company that operates a polysilicon plant in the Samalaju Industrial Zone in Bintulu.

During the visit by the officials, led by Hu Kwan who is the company’s president and CEO, the Chief Minister was given an overview of OCIM’s current investment in Sarawak and was briefed on the company’s new investment plans.

The company’s production facility in Bintulu produces 14,000 metric tonnes of polysilicon annually and employs more than 700 people in Sarawak.
