KUCHING: The Southern Zone Sarawak World Pathfinder Day celebration was held at the SUPP Hall, Jalan Ong Kee Hui here.

The event attracted 830 participants, consisting of Pathfinders, Master Guides, Adventurers, and the local community.

This year, the event was hosted by Batu Kawah Seventh-day Adventist Church in collaboration with Kuching English Church.

The presence of Pathfinder clubs from Bau, Lundu, Kuching Rural, Padawan, Penrissen, Serian, Tebedu, Mongkos and Asajaya further enlivened the event.

In the morning, the Pathfinders participated in a spiritual service together, accompanied by demonstrations of skills they had learned in Pathfinder classes.

These skills involved leadership, emergency preparedness and physical readiness activities, inspiring other participants to pursue learning with dedication.

The event continued in the afternoon with a community service project involving over 200 Pathfinders from Batu Kawah Church and Kuching English Church.

They distributed food baskets to those in need around the Kuching area, fostering a spirit of compassion and care for the community.

Kho Teck Wan, a political secretary to the Sarawak Premier, officiated at the celebration, representing Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

In a speech delivered on behalf of Dr Sim, Kho said that the future of society lies in the hands of the younger generation; “I hope that all those present today, especially the Pathfinders, will continue to strive to develop their potential and contribute to the betterment of society. May the Pathfinder Club continue to be an important platform in guiding and shaping a brighter future for our youth.”

The organisers, the Sarawak Pathfinder Club, extended their heartfelt gratitude to Sarawak United People’s Party here for generously allowing the use of its headquarters’ hall to hold the event and to Dr Sim for his RM2,000 contribution, which helped ensure the smooth execution of the programme.

This celebration not only recognised the achievements of Pathfinders and Master Guides but also promoted the spirit of cooperation, dedication, and leadership among the younger generation under the care of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
