KUCHING: Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) treasurer-general Bell Bernard Aggan has welcomed the state government’s historic milestone of placing Sarawak Pay on the international platform as SPay Global through its collaboration with UnionPay.
He said this was another step forward for Sarawak in its journey towards achieving developed state status by 2030.
“With e-wallet applications, it is very convenient for us to make payments while overseas without having to bring around so much cash.
“Partnering with UnionPay is very timely and I agree with our state government’s proposal to rename our Sarawak Pay e-wallet as SPay Global,” he said when contacted today.
He hoped Bank Negara would approve a larger e-wallet size for the application as he believed this would encourage more people to utilise the application.
“In the long term, I believe we have a bright future if our digital economy agenda is tailored to our needs,” said Bell.
The UnionPay Virtual Card on Sarawak Pay was launched by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on Thursday.
