MUKAH: Mukah’s commitment to enhancing student excellence has led to the establishment of a special education bureau in the area, which will focus on various aspects to support local students’ development.

According to Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine, the bureau’s initiatives include curriculum and co-curriculum development, as well as personal growth programmes tailored for Mukah students.

To address specific student needs, two major programmes have been introduced: 57 Spoon and 57 Classroom, he said during the handover of school uniform vouchers at the Mukah District Office here yesterday.

“57 Spoon is designed to provide special food aid for students preparing for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia exam.

“These students will receive breakfast and lunch to ensure they remain on campus after the exam, saving time, and helping them focus on their final preparations. This initiative aims to prevent any unwanted incidents while students travel home,” he explained.

Meanwhile, 57 Classroom involves providing additional classes with modern facilities, including interactive screens and other educational tools.

The education bureau’s programmes are dedicated to improving education in Mukah, and it is hoped that these efforts can be expanded further with the appropriate funding.

During the handover ceremony, Royston distributed 324 vouchers for uniforms worth RM64,800 to the Mukah District Education Department.

“Each voucher, valued at RM200, will be distributed to primary and secondary school students in Mukah as part of Yayasan Sarawak’s assistance programme for students from financially disadvantaged families.”

He added that the bureau also offers aid programmes that provide school bags to these student groups. Acting Mukah District officer Peleadzman Ahip was also present at the event.
