BINTULU: A total of 21 people, two of them foreigners, were rounded up by the district’s narcotic police in a three-day operation codenamed ‘Ops Tapis Khas’ from Feb 23 to 25.

District police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said the suspects, comprising 20 men and a woman aged between 16 and 47, were arrested for alleged involvement in substance abuse.

He said raids were conducted at several locations such as abandoned houses, boarding houses and huts in plantations around the district.

Two suspects in possession of 0.6gm of drugs believed to be methamphetamine and psychotropic pills, were arrested under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 30 (3) of the Poisons Act 1952.

Zulkipli said all of the suspects tested positive for amphetamine and they will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Meanwhile, the two foreigners are also being investigated under Section 6 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 195/63 for failing to show any valid travel documents.
