KUCHING: Any small scale companies, organisations or individuals who purchased more than 20 litres of petrol and diesel are required to apply for special permits under the Control of Supplies Act (AKB) 1961.

Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affair Datuk Seri Alxander Nanta Linggi said applications can be made through the Mysubsidi Special Permit system or come to any KPDNHEP offices across the state.

He said, the application only needs to be made once for a period of one year and not for every purchase.

“This Special Permit is free and does not incur any fees and it is open to all qualified quarters.

“Anyone who buys less than 20 litres including for emergency cases are allowed and does not require the permit,” he said at a press conference at the KPDNHEP Sarawak Office, here today.

Also present were Malaysian KPDNHEP Enforcement director Azman Adam and KPDNHEP Sarawak Enforcement deputy director Peter J Berinus Agang.

He said that this is to prevent controlled and subsidised goods like the petrol and diesel to be used or smuggled by irresponsible parties or individuals.

Nanta added that among those that have obtained the special permit from the ministry are forklift users, the agriculture and animal husbandry sector, and food industry operators.

Residents in the rural areas, water transport operators for boat engines and part-time fishermen (not e-nelayan card holders) are among those who have obtained the special permit.

“A new special permit application will be processed within five working days from the date of receipt of the application.

Application for renewal or resumption of the permit will take three working days from the date the application is received,” he explained.

He noted that any party that has been given permission to buy petrol and diesel fuel through this special permit can use drum tanks, plastic gallons or any suitable container or storage according to the daily quantity that has been approved.
