MIRI: Youth should opt to spend their time on worthwhile activities such as physical sports such as futsal and social activities that allow them to encounter more positive and beneficial thinking people, said Dennis Ngau.
According to the Telang Usan assemblyman, one of the main reasons why people never receive what they desire in life is that they lose focus on what is most important.
“When you look at successful people, you will see that they make an ongoing effort to keep focused on the things that can truly make a difference in their goals and life.
“Therefore I exhort the youth to put the commitment in your education or your employment for those who are working,” Dennis said.
This can be difficult at times, he said, because living in a world that is constantly vying for energy and attention and the challenges faced in years to come, be it finding jobs and other things, will be getting more competitive as more people will have better education.
He said this in his speech when officiating at the Long Pilah Futsal Competition that was organised by the youth association there on December 20.
“Those youth who lack basic employment skills might consider enrolling in a community college in Miri or other learning institutes.
“People who were truly successful in their chosen field recognised that the secret to their success was in their ability to discover their strengths and organise their life so that those skills could be utilised. If you’re interested in framing, talk to government representatives to receive information or training.”
He added that having a strong religious belief will make the youth stronger in facing life challenges and difficulties and further shared his concern knowing much Christian youth today, despite strong religious faith in their parents, seem to shy away from churches and their activities.
“Keep improving and stay in tune with the times.
Have confidence in your ability because these basic beliefs play a major role in determining a person’s success over time.”
In a similar event, he shared his happiness knowing what the government has brought to Long Pilah starting from a village stage in the middle of the longhouse for community activities, bringing 24-hour electricity, village roads, a multipurpose hall, the futsal court and many others.
This year’s competition was participated by 12 teams with teams coming from various villages within the Baram Tengah region as well as from Miri City with an allocation of RM10,000,00 from his minor rural project (MRP) funds.
