MUKAH: Sixteen SPM and STPM school-leavers here who have been accepted to further their studies or attend training at local institutions of higher learning (IPT) or training centres received study incentives today.
Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo said they were the last batch to receive the financial aid allocated for 2020.
He hoped that it would be a smooth process for them as some had their academic sessions postponed, while others had to study online.
“For those studying online, especially in rural areas, they are facing Internet (connection) problem,” he said, when presenting the incentives to the recipients in a simple ceremony at the Tellian constituency service centre.
Yussibnosh said he was sad about the current situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as it directly affected the socioeconomic wellbeing of the people, including the smooth running of the education system.
He hoped that parents and the public here would always be vigilant while also adhering to standard operating procedure (SOP) guidelines.
