KUALA LUMPUR: The Sports Commissioner’s Office (PPS) is encouraging sports associations or bodies to hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the election of committee members online, in order to meet the requirements of their respective constitutions.

In a statement released yesterday, PPS recommended the associations and bodies to prepare the mechanism for the implementation of the AGM and the method of selecting committee members in accordance with the new norms.

“The conduct of the meeting must also comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the National Security Council (MKN),” it said.

According to PPS, several sports associations registered with the Sports Development Act 1997 had expressed the desire to hold their AGMs which have been on hold since last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The statement said the Ministry of Youth and Sports was very concerned about health and safety factors involving all sports bodies, as well as the survival of sports facilities operators and the entire sports industry throughout the country.
