SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) with Persiaran Brooke’s Komuniti Rukun Tetangga (KRT) jointly launched a cleaning campaign/Spring Cleaning 2023 at Tiong Hua Road Market here recently.

About 80 participants including those from Sibu Division National Integration and Unity Office, Jalan Oya Health Clinic, Sarawak State Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), Rejang Medical Centre and Xin Fu Yuan Church partook in the campaign.

Among those present were Sibu Division Unity Officer Siti Nurfatimah Hussen, her assistant unity officer Mohamad Noridzwan Sawi and Councillor Raymond Tiong Ing Lik from SMC.

According to the KRT chairlady Melinda Wong Kwong Hung, the campaign is aimed to raise awareness of cleanliness in the community and to encourage the community to keep their home surroundings clean and in good order.

“Through this campaign, we also hope to bring communities together and enhancing social bonds to make people more appreciative of their common environment besides fostering goodwill and unity among communities of various races.

“Moreover, our goal is to maintain a clean environment to reduce pollution, preserves our biosphere and also help to preserve the earth’s natural resources, increases productivity, keep our mind and body fresh.

“It is also part of the efforts to aid in establishing a safe, clean and healthy community, “Rakyat Sihat Negara Maju,” Wong added.
