KUCHING: The key to the team’s success lies in the intensive training under highly qualified and experienced coaches, said Sarawak Athletics contingent coach Lim Teck Leong.

The Sarawak team had set its sights on seven gold medals at this year’s event, backed by their commitment and thorough preparations, he said recently.

Lim also lauded the support of the Sarawak State Sports Council (MSN), which has provided comfortable accommodations and sports science services, including rehabilitation and psychological support.

A total of 47 events will be contested in the biennial athletics championship.

The highly anticipated men’s and women’s 100m races will be held this Monday, with the semifinals in the morning and the finals in the afternoon.
