ANKARA: Tottenham Hotspur hosted their first ever iftar meal at their football ground, the English Premier League club announced.

“The Club was proud to host its first ever Ramadan Iftar event at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night, organised by Spurs REACH – by our dedicated supporters’ group for fans from diverse and under-represented ethnic backgrounds and their allies,” Anadolu Agency quoted a Spurs statement.

Tottenham Hotspur joined other English Premier League football clubs in hosting an iftar event for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan such as Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Aston Villa, as well as Championship clubs Queen’s Park Rangers and Burnley.

“This special event for around 150 Spurs REACH members and their guests was attended by Arnaut Danjuma, who as a practicing Muslim is observing Ramadan, and Ledley King, our Club Ambassador and patron of Spurs REACH,” Tottenham Hotspur added.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Danjuma, 26, is a Spurs winger from the Netherlands, and left Spain’s Villarreal in January.
