SIBU: Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) will request for more funds from the state government to develop its west bank.

Its deputy chairman Robert Lau Hui Yew yesterday led a council delegation to inspect the infrastructures in the area and to check on the needs of residents in the west bank.

Lau said the team checked on a shophouse owned by the council and found it was in a dilapidated condition with the land sinking.

“The roads in the area are also in poor condition and require immediate repair,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

He noted that the problems faced by residents in the west bank would be looked into more comprehensively, adding the council would request additional funds from the state government to upgrade infrastructures in the area.
