 SRI AMAN: The Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) conducted an emergency evacuation drill at Rumah Kanak-Kanak (RKK) Datuk Ajibah Abol here.

Its spokesman said a total of 63 residents including 44 senior citizens from Rumah Seri Kenangan, Sibu, were involved in the drill.

He said the simulated incident began with the sound of the fire alarm and all RKK Datuk Ajibah Abol staff evacuated the residents and gathered at the assembly point.

He also said the exercise also included a scenario where two senior citizens were trapped in a room and a team of eight firefighters with a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) vehicle rushed to the scene to evacuate them.

The spokesman added that the drill was to train the staff and residents to evacuate in the event of a fire and whenever they heard the emergency alarm ring.

Also present were Sri Aman fire station chief, PPgB William Baheng, PBK II Jilin Itar, RKK Datuk Ajibah Abol and Rumah Seri Kenangan Sibu principals, Sharifah Mordiah Syed Ali and Uwieng Gimos.
