SRI AMAN: The state-level Malaysia Day 2024 celebration will be held here with a series of significant events planned to mark the occasion.
The event will take place from Sept 14-16, featuring a variety of cultural and religious activities that reflect the state’s rich diversity.
Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Minister, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah who also serves as the Minister in charge of the Sarawak-level celebration,announced that four cornerstone events would be held.
He said the first key event is an Interfaith Thanksgiving Ceremony, scheduled for Sept 14 at 11am at Dewan Suarah here.
“The celebration will continue with the “Segulai Sejalai, Cinta Malaysia” concert, which will take place on the same day at 8pm at the Sri Aman Waterfront.
“On Sept 15, a second Thanksgiving Ceremony will be held at 5.30pm at Masjid Bandar Sri Aman. This will be followed by the main highlight of the celebration, the Malaysia Day assembly, on Sept 16 at 10am at the Indoor Stadium of the Sri Aman Sports Complex,” he said during a press conference here on Tuesday (Sept 9).
Sagah added that this year’s celebration would be graced by Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, members of the Sarawak Cabinet and other guests, will also attend.
The celebration will be enlivened by various performances, including pre-show acts by the Sri Aman Buskers and D’Jaksa Band.
A special cultural dance performance by the Anak Seni Benak troupe will showcase the ethnic diversity of the region.
Malaysian singer Hafiz Suip and local artistes representing various ethnicity, such as Ricky El, Karen Libau, Roxy Ixzy, Eddie Kuwing, Harris Mukhriz, and Raquel Then Xi Ya, are also set to entertain the crowd.
For those unable to attend in person, the Malaysia Day assembly will be broadcast live on TVS (Astro Channel 122 and MyTV) and streamed on the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) Facebook page and YouTube channel.
