KUCHING: Ernst & Young, in partnership with Sarawak’s Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESty), is hosting the Sarawak Sustainability Insights (SSI) 2024 at Pullman Hotel here on October 29.

The conference will feature the upcoming Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint, a comprehensive framework slated for launch in 2025.

This blueprint outlines strategic priorities to guide Sarawak toward a low-carbon future, bolstering the state’s commitment to sustainable environmental and economic development.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will deliver the keynote address, highlighting the state’s pioneering role in renewable energy and its ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Abang Johari will also address Sarawak’s renewable energy advancements, including hybrid solutions, carbon capture initiatives, and Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities across energy, transport, and urban greening.

The landmark event is expected to attract over 500 delegates, including representatives from federal and state ministries, industry leaders, and international dignitaries.

Prominent speakers, including Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood, the director of the Sunway Centre for Planetary Health, will join the discussion on sustainable development, focusing on climate resilience, social inclusivity, and renewable energy solutions.

The event will conclude with a closing remarks by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
