KUCHING: The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) Online Networking Entrepreneurs Carnival is back from 30 March to 1 April 2018 to be held at CityONE Megamall Kuching here.
SSM expects 20,000 people to visit the carnival throughout the three days.
This would be the third time that SSM has been organising the carnival in the State and in 2016, it was held at the same location while in 2015, it was held at Plaza Merdeka, Kuching.
Speaking during a press conference here yesterday, Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that the carnival would be a one-stop centre for entrepreneurs to register themselves online with SSM.
Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister for Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, disclosed that in the whole of Malaysia, 61,139 online companies have registered with SSM.
“In Sarawak, we need to increase the involvement of companies in this new platform of internet and online business,” he said.
He added that the carnival aimed to bring members of the online business community together and to provide awareness to those entrepreneurs specially those doing online businesses to conduct their business according to the laws as well as to encourage them on the potential to expand.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said that there would be 80 exhibitions and sale booths at the carnival as well as sharing of knowledge by experts in the field of entrepreneurs.
A number of celebrities in entrepreneurship would also be present to share their stories of success and experiences.
The carnival would host various activities such as entrepreneurship seminar, briefings by agencies providing assistance, business competition, Entrepreneurs Hunt, karaoke ONE Superstar, Fashion competition and Mobile Legends Competition.
There would also be busking performances and lucky draws.
The carnival would be officiated by the Chief Minister,
Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg on March 31 at 2.30pm.
Also present at the press conference were SSM’s Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Zahrah Abd Wahab Fenner, Assistant Minister for E-Commerce, Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development, Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Assistant Minister for Corporate Affairs, Abdullah Saidol and Assistant Minister for Industries and Investment, Malsom Mussen Lamoh.
