KUCHING: The Unity Government National Convention 2023 has provided people with valuable insights into the future direction of leadership.
In a statement yesterday, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Stakan branch chairman Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok said that it was a good convention for the people to know the direction the new leaders of the Unity Government is heading.
Recognising the importance of stability, Sim expressed his support for the Prime Minister’s commitment to maintaining a strong government and avoiding political upheaval.
He firmly believed that a stable government would facilitate the country’s development and progress, mitigating the negative impacts of excessive politics and frequent leadership changes.
“This is good for the development and advancement of our country instead of too much politics or always changing our government and leaders,” said Sim.
Sim also concurred with the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s stance on the need for economic reforms to enhance competitiveness, with a focus on sustainability and renewable energy.
“With that strength and stability, the country’s policies of development and economics can be given the time they need to prosper,” added Sim, who acknowledged the detrimental impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the frequent changes in Prime Ministers from 2019 to late 2022 on economic development.
