KUCHING: The country needs a stable federal government to ensure continuous development, said Gerald Rentab Jabu.
The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief said the recent visit by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin reinforced the federal government’s commitment to amend the Federal Constitution to incorporate the spirit of Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government seek to address this issue to streamline areas of authority of the state and federal government agencies’ powers and autonomy.
“If this can be spelt out accordingly then Sarawak can have a better future planning for Sarawakians,” he said.
He also noted that the people wanted a stable federal government and not the political rhetoric undermining every effort that has been made thus far.
“Only Sarawakians and Sarawak based parties know the state and expectations of Sarawakians,” he added.
Rentap said that the Prime Minister had justified his assurance by highlighting the establishment of the Special Council on MA63.
“The Special Council on MA63 is important to show the commitment and efforts of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government to help resolve long-standing issues such as devolution of power and Sarawak’s autonomous rights,” he said.
