POLITICAL stability plays an important role in maintaining the continuity of Sarawak’s economic development as well as guaranteeing prosperity and well-being of the people.
Balingian assemblyman, Abdul Yakub Arbi said success and progress that have been achieved by the Sarawak government was the result of political tolerance and good efforts in implementing development initiatives.
“Sarawak is blessed with a leadership that prioritise the development agenda despite having different political backgrounds and understanding.
“Cooperation and camaraderie from all sides are needed to maintain political stability for a harmonious state,” he said.
He said this when debating in support of the motion of appreciation for the former and late governor, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud today (May 9).
On another matter, he also addressed the worrying increase in kidney disease patients every year that needed haemodialysis treatment at hospital and clinic.
“For the residents in Balingian constituency, it is very difficult for them as they must go to the hospital in Sibu to be treated and some even have to go Daro hospital to get their weekly treatment,” he added.
Having said that, Abdul Yakub hope that the responsible authorities will address this issue by providing haemodialysis machines at Balingian Clinic, Kuala Balingian clinic and Sesok clinic to facilitate the needs of the patients there.
