SIBU: Massive marque tents are already in place at Azman Hashim Sports Centre to welcome the people from nearby Sibu Jaya township for the upcoming Sibu Jaya Mega Concert on Sept 17.
The three-hour long concert will be featuring megastars such as Dayang Nurfaizah and Hafiz Suip as well as popular Iban recording artistes Ricky El and Rickie Andrewson.
Apart from them, two local bands – the sensational AT Adau, famed for their lively rendition of ethnic music and The Crew – will take to the stage at Azman Hashim Community Sports Centre from 7.30pm onwards.
At 11pm, a mega fireworks show will light up the night sky over the sprawling 1,200-acre township, which has seen rapid development since its inception in the mid-nineties.
For the record, currently there are more than 35,000 residents within the Sibu Jaya Township, which has drawn massive crowds with the numerous events hosted in the township.
The crowds from nearby suburbs and towns such as Durin, Kanowit, Julau, Sarikei and as far up as Song and Kanowit thronged into Sibu Jaya.
The event hosted by Yayasan Azman Hashim and Amcorp Properties is expected to be attended by Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian who will be represented by Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew
