SIBU: The RM20.6 million Starlink Hotel located along Tunku Abdul Rahman Road will officially open its doors on Monday (March 14).
According to Daesim Group of Companies chairman Datuk Lau Ngie Hua, it marks another milestone for the group.
It is expected to be officially opened by the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Lau said the Starlink Hotel was the group’s first foray into the hotel business.
“Our 11-storey Starlink Hotel comes with 144 rooms which are all fully furnished with top class facilities.
“We are pleased to note that the response from visitors who checked-in at our Starlink Hotel has been quite encouraging since its soft opening in November last year,” he said.
On weekdays, the room occupation rate at the hotel is between 35 per cent and 40 per cent while on weekends it is more than 60 per cent, he said.
“At the moment, the hotel guests are mostly from the Central Region areas such as Kapit, Kanowit, Song and Mukah,” he said.
On its future plan, Lau pointed out that, as they still have a reserved piece of land located just next to Starlink Hotel, they might extend the hotel to build more than 300 hotel rooms or to build a swimming pool.
“In future, we also looking into the possibilities of having a hotel in a garden concept.
“Thus, we plan to look out for a suitable location probably in the countryside for the purpose as we want to provide a hotel where our hotel guests can enjoy a cozy green environment with a lovely landscape surrounding it, far away from the busy town area,” he added.
