KUCHING: Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas) is on the right track in supporting the state government’s efforts to achieve its digital economy vision, says its chairman.
Datuk Len Talif Salleh explained that this was evident through the various programmes conducted since 2017 as well as initiatives taken to identify gaps in the innovation entrepreneurship ecosystem.
“Tegas aspires to foster strategic partnerships and ecosystem synergy for the benefit of Sarawakians and this is also prevalent in our strategic and smart partnerships with Shell in the Shell LiveWIRE programme.
“Shell LiveWIRE aligns with Tegas’ mission of supporting and empowering early stage start-ups and social enterprises in achieving sustainable growth and enhancing the innovation entrepreneurial ecosystem in Sarawak.”
He said this when officiating at the Shell LiveWIRE Sarawak 2021 Awards at Tegas Digital Village (TDV), Sama Jaya High Tech Park here today.
Len, who is also Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, said Shell LiveWIRE entrepreneurs had been provided additional seed grants worth RM115,000 since 2017 as well as access to the latest facilities at the digital village and hubs in Kuching, Bintulu and Miri.
He added that Shell LiveWIRE entrepreneurs had also benefitted from the publicity and networking opportunities provided by Tegas.
At the ceremony, Len presented awards to the top five Shell LiveWIRE winners from Sarawak, which included a start-up grant of RM10,000 from Shell, RM5,000 from Tegas and a year of business coaching.
The winners were Aaron Tan Chun Kwang of UAS Mapping; Nisha Halinda Hasbi of Bintulu Coffeescape; Anne Isabelle Chi of Ruti & Kupi; Tom Low Sing Ho of Bless Borneo Camper; and Muhammad Afiq Hariz Khatem of Komubox.
