THE Sarawak E-Sports Expo in February next year is one of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Talent Development and Sarawak E-Sports Association’s (SESA) platforms for e-sports development.
Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the expo will include E-Sports Forum and Workshop, My Borneo E-Force Invitational 2.0 grand final, Sarawak E-Sports Championship 2023, gaming peripheral expo and healthy gaming exhibition.
“More collaboration programmes will be implemented in the future to strengthen the development of sustainable e-sports ecosystem in Sarawak,” he said when presenting his ministerial winding-up speech in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) yesterday.
He said SESA and the North American Collegiate League (NACL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on e-sports cooperation, especially in the segment of E-Sports League.
“Indeed, this collaboration will elevate the local e-sports industry in Sarawak to a whole new level, hence reaching the goal of my ministry to make the state a world-class sport player,” he said.
Abdul Karim revealed that SESA is collaborating with University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) to design and promote a Bachelor of Mobile Game Development programme.
“I hope this will help the local talents in getting involved in game development,” he added.
