MIRI: One new Iban community leader was appointed by the state government to help manage the grassroots in the Miri division under the Piasau constituency (N73).
Penghulu Wilfred Mac @Melina Anis was appointed as Penghulu and is responsible for area within the city, Lutong, Kampung Pasir Lutong, Sealine Atas and Sealine Bawah areas.
With this latest appointment, Miri division currently has a total of four Iban Penghulu. They are Penghulu Randi Elon (Lambir); Penghulu Ngadan Melintang (Senadin); Penghulu Abau Nawing (Pujut) and Penghulu Wilfred Mac @ Melina Anis (Piasau).
Meanwhile, Ketua Kaum Darahaman Sahat ( Pulau Melayu,Miri) received his letter of appointment for service extension.
Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew presented the appointment letter/extension service letter to both of Penghulu Wilfred Mac and Ketua Kaum Darahaman during a simple ceremony held today at Miri Resident’s Office.
Also present were Local Government and Housing Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, Miri Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof and Miri District Officer Siti Rohanie Yusuf.
