KUCHING : Members of the public were delighted when Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang presented them a rose each at the Mile 3, Sg. Maong Wet Market here yesterday morning.
The gifts were presented in conjunction of the International Women’s Day celebration.
Lo said it was good that a day was set aside to honour women all over the world.
“Women are the pillars behind every family. They not only take care of elderly parents, they have to work, take care of the children and husbands and complement the men in a lot of ways, including financially or morally.
“Thus, all men must go back today and give their wives a special treat or a hug for a good job done,” he said.
Lo added that many women were strong in their own ways and it was good for women to support each other.
“I would like to thankfully acknowledge my mother, dad and family for supporting me, for helping me to develop my confidence and treating me and my siblings equally, while encouraging me to believe that I was better if not equally as good as anyone else in this world.
“This faith reposed in me helped me to stand up for myself and rise time after time in spite of setbacks and fallures in life and still be able to stand tall and face life courageously with enthusiasm and a smile,” he added.
