KUCHING: A farewell dinner was hosted by the Women and Family Department (JWKS) in honour of DCP Dato’ Dev Kumar who will be transferred soon.
Speaking during the dinner, Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah applauded the policeman for helping the department, particularly in cases involving violence against women and children.
“Tonight, we would like to acknowledge your services, leadership and contributions to public safety and especially towards women and children in Sarawak.
“Your commitment in this matter is a guiding principle to the others in the police force,” she said during the dinner which was held at Grand Margherita Hotel here last night.
Fatimah added : “He ensures that each case is handled appropriately and helps instil a sense of confidence towards the system. This makes many others even braver enough to come forward.
“The increase in the number of cases shows the public confidence in us and the system,” she said.
Meanwhile, Dev described his 10 years of service in the state as among the best times not only in his career but his life as well.
“It has been an enjoyable experience and among all the places I’ve worked in, Sarawak will always be close to my heart,” he said, adding that he hoped to return to the state again one day.
Also present at the dinner were JWKS Director, Noriah Ahmad and the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Director, Nor Hisham Mohammad.
