KUCHING: Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth welcome the state cabinet reshuffle announced by the Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Haji Johari Tun Openg on Saturday.

State BN Youth and PBB Youth chief Datuk Seri Haji Fadillah Yusof said the new cabinet line-up which took effect yesterday, is a formidable line-up combining seasoned leaders with diverse experience and background to represent the various ethnic groups in Sarawak.

He said the appointment of Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan as the third Deputy Chief Minister and the restructuring and renaming some of the ministries would strengthen the administration of the state government under the leadership of the current Chief Minister.

“While the move to place education under the state government through the creation of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research is seen to spur further the education sector in the state which has special geographical aspect and ethnic diversity.

“At the same time, the creation of the Ministry International Trade and E-Commerce is in line with the vision of the Chief Minister who wants Sarawak to move towards digital economy,” said Fadillah in a statement yesterday.

He said the state BN Youth also thanked the Chief Minister for appointing PBB Youth deputy chief Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah as Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief Snowdan Lawan as Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports.

“This shows the confidence and trust of the state leadership in the ability of young leaders in the state to lead Sarawak in future.

“In fact, two Deputy Chief Ministers – Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah – had led the youth in the state previously. This proves PBB always has the plan to train the youth and certify their leadership,” he added.

“The Youth wish to congratulate all those appointed in the new state cabinet line-up. We are confident that they will be able to their best to bring economic growth to Sarawak as promised in the BN Manifesto during the last state election last year, and this in turn will place the state on the right track of rapd development,” said Fadillah.
