KUCHING: The State Budget ‘25 is viewed as a significant step in enhancing the lives of Sarawakians while aiming to elevate the state’s economy.
Economist Abu Sofian Yaacob emphasised that the Budget prioritises citizens’ welfare, promotes a higher quality of life, and supports Sarawak’s trajectory toward becoming a developed state.
“When the lives of the people are well-supported, their living standards will rise, making life more comfortable and prosperous.
“This will advance the state to be on par with other developing nations, moving toward developed status in the years to come,” he said when contacted by Sarawak Tribune.
Following this, he expressed optimism that the Budget could drive a rapid increase in Sarawak’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), thus attracting more investors, similar to the investment appeal in states like Selangor, Penang, and Johor.
He also stressed the importance of dedicated public servants in achieving the Budget’s objectives.
“I hope Sarawak’s government will succeed in reaching its goals with a committed and integrity-driven public service.
“Nevertheless, it can be seen that this Budget reflects the state government’s commitment to enhancing the lives of its people and boosting the state’s economy to new heights,” he said.
