KUCHING: The State Cabinet has agreed to table the amendment to the state Land Code in the coming State Legislative Assembly (DUN) meeting in July.
The amendment to the state Land Code refers to the issues of Pemakai Menua (PM) and Pulau Galau (PG).
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg said that an agreement was reached during the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
“There was nothing much discussed during the meeting as it was a normal Cabinet meeting,” he added when met by reporters after attending the Chief Minister’s Office Gawai Raya 2018 celebration at the Old DUN complex in Petra Jaya here yesterday.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that during the meeting, the State Attorney General gave a briefing on the draft of the proposed bill.
“The Cabinet agreed to it, and it is scheduled to be tabled this coming DUN meeting.
“I cannot give any details until I table it in the DUN meeting. It is still confidential,” he stressed.
On Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Abang Johari said that based on law, the State government could not say no to Bersatu coming to Sarawak.
“It is up to the Sarawakians to choose whether they want Bersatu or not.
“Of course we do not want Malaya party to come to Sarawak, but we will let the people judge as we cannot say no as by right under the law, they can come here,” he pointed out.
On the newly formed Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), he said that the alliance has yet to submit an official application as it was still being processed.
“We have yet to submit the application because we still don’t have the logo and the logo design competition is still ongoing,” he explained.
