KUCHING: The state Democratic Action Party (DAP) did not sack Voon Lee Shan, party organising secretary Violet Yong.
“There was no sacking at all, so I can say he is not truthful,” she said, adding that the state DAP would be sending a show cause letter to Voon, now the president of the newly formed Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK), soon as he was still a life member of DAP.
Yong revealed that Voon would face a disciplinary committee.
She said he was not telling the truth when he said he was sacked by DAP on the eve of the nomination day (April 10) for the 2011 state election.
“Based on our records, in the 2012 AGM (annual general meeting) of the Batu Lintang branch, Voon was nominated as the chairman.
“If it was true he was sacked in 2011 as he had claimed, why was his branch holding the AGM then and the annual report sent to RoS (Registrar of Societies)?
“In his AGM speech, he even spoke on the nomination issue, saying he was not sure whether he would be nominated as the Stampin candidate in the next parliamentary election in 2013,” she told a press conference here yesterday.
“Voon is still our member as there was no official letter issued nor did he tender any resignation. As far as our record is concerned. Voon is still a DAP life member. There is no proof of what he said. Whatever he said was not true.
“Under the DAP constitution, we can’t hold dual membership. We are going to issue him a show cause letter. Politically, it is not right. No one prohibited him from forming a new party but at least, he should do it the right way,” she added.
When contacted by New Sarawak Tribune, Voon said, “Itu dia cakap. (That’s what she said). They wanted face. Refer to the statement I issued earlier.”
On Monday, Voon issued a statement, saying he was no longer a DAP member since 2011.
