KUCHING: The Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030): Highlights 2023 underscores the state’s dedication to transparency and sustainable growth.
State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the report highlighted the state government’s achievements and the aspirations guiding its progress, bringing Sarawak one step closer to the vision for 2030.
“Serving as a comprehensive overview, PCDS 2030: Highlights 2023 provides a clear picture of Sarawak’s journey thus far, detailing the strategies we have boldly pursued and the accomplishments we have reached.
“Through this report, we are publicly sharing the progress and outcomes of the Sarawak government’s programmes and policies to our stakeholders.
“This is our way of keeping everyone informed and engaged because we believe that we can only build a brighter future for Sarawak if we work together,” he said during the report’s launch at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today (Nov 22).
Abu Bakar added that the state’s achievements, showcased within the report, represent the real impact on people’s lives across every town and village, every income bracket and every cultural background in Sarawak.
“These achievements show the difference our efforts are making in creating opportunities and improving lives, no matter where or who they are,” he said.
Launched by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the report highlights tangible outcomes across various sectors:
Manufacturing: Sarawak attracted RM21.5 billion in approved investments from 2021 to 2023, creating over 11,000 new jobs.
Tourism: 3.9 million visitors arrived in 2023, generating RM9.99 billion in tourism revenue.
Forestry: Sarawak planted 32.5 million trees from 2021 to 2023, demonstrating its commitment to the environment.
Infrastructure: Sarawak has built an extensive road network spanning 31,577 km, improving access and connectivity.
Utilities: Electricity coverage has reached 99.4 percent, while water supply coverage is at 84.3 per cent, bringing essential services to more communities.
Renewable Energy: Sarawak maintained a 60 per cent Renewable Energy Capacity Mix and sold 5 million Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) in 2023.
